| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
hfsplus: Add a sanity check for btree node size
Syzbot reported an uninit-value bug in [1] with a corrupted HFS+ image,
during the file system mounting process, specifically while loading the
catalog, a corrupted node_size value of 1 caused the rec_off argument
passed to hfs_bnode_read_u16() (within hfs_bnode_find()) to be excessively
large. Consequently, the function failed to return a valid value to
initialize the off variable, triggering the bug [1].
Every node starts from BTree node descriptor: struct hfs_bnode_desc.
So, the size of node cannot be lesser than that. However, technical
specification declares that: "The node size (which is expressed in bytes)
must be power of two, from 512 through 32,768, inclusive." Add a check
for btree node size base on technical specification.

s390/zcrypt: Improve CCA CPRB length and overflow checks
The xcrb_msg_to_type6cprb_msgx() function lacks proper input
validation, creating security vulnerabilities:
1. Integer overflow after CEIL4 alignment: Signed int variables could
overflow during 4-byte boundary alignment, causing undersized
buffer allocations or incorrect bounds checking.
2. Missing minimum size validation: The CPRBX structure is copied from
userspace without verifying sufficient buffer length. Undersized
buffers cause uninitialized memory access when reading structure
fields like cprbx.cprb_len and cprbx.domain.
3. Arithmetic overflow in sum calculations: Adding control block and
data block sizes could overflow, bypassing size checks and enabling
buffer overflows.
Fix by using size_t for length calculations, adding U32_MAX boundary
checks after alignment, validating minimum control block size before
copying from userspace, and detecting sum calculation overflows. |
| Use of uninitialized variable in Mobile in Google Chrome on on iOS prior to 152.0.7977.65 allowed a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Critical) |
| OpenEXR is the reference implementation and specification for the EXR image file format, widely used in the motion picture industry. In versions 3.3.0 through 3.3.12 and 3.4.0 through 3.4.13, the PyOpenEXR Python bindings return stale heap data when reading a crafted deep scanline EXR that uses layer-prefixed RGB channels. With the default channel coalescing (separate_channels=False), the wrapper groups channels such as left.R, left.G, and left.B into a single RGB sample array, but the lane-offset calculation in PyPart::setDeepSliceData() only recognizes the exact unprefixed names G, B, and A. As a result, prefixed channels like left.G and left.B are decoded into lane 0 while lanes 1 and 2 are left uninitialized and returned to Python. A Python application that reads untrusted deep EXR files through the default OpenEXR.File API and then logs, serializes, previews, or otherwise processes the resulting NumPy sample arrays may expose uninitialized same-process heap contents, in addition to receiving incorrect green and blue channel data. This issue is fixed in versions 3.3.13 and 3.4.14. |
| A vulnerability was found in Golang FIPS OpenSSL. This flaw allows a malicious user to randomly cause an uninitialized buffer length variable with a zeroed buffer to be returned in FIPS mode. It may also be possible to force a false positive match between non-equal hashes when comparing a trusted computed hmac sum to an untrusted input sum if an attacker can send a zeroed buffer in place of a pre-computed sum. It is also possible to force a derived key to be all zeros instead of an unpredictable value. This may have follow-on implications for the Go TLS stack. |
| ESS protocol dissector crash in 4.6.0 to 4.6.7 and 4.4.0 to 4.4.18 allows denial of service |
| IBM i 7.6, 7.5, 7.4, and 7.3 could allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service due to the use of an uninitialized variable. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfilter: xt_hashlimit: validate hashtable supports XT_HASHLIMIT_RATE_MATCH
The XT_HASHLIMIT_RATE_MATCH flag mode changes the semantics of the
dsthash_ent structure which represents an entry in the hashtable. There
is a union area which uses a different layout to express the rate match
mode.
Update .checkentry path to validate the XT_HASHLIMIT_RATE_MATCH mode
flag is requested by two or more different rules that refer to the same
hashtable. Otherwise, uninitialized access to the burst field in the
union is possible.
Reject the use of the XT_HASHLIMIT_RATE_MATCH mode flag if set on by
revision less than 3 too. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
hwmon: adm1275: Prevent reading uninitialized stack
While adding support for the ROHM BD127X0 hot-swap controllers, sashiko
reported an error in device-name comparison, which can lead to reading
uninitialized stack memory.
Quoting Sashiko:
This is a pre-existing issue, but I noticed that just before this block in
adm1275_probe(), there might be an out-of-bounds stack read:
ret = i2c_smbus_read_block_data(client, PMBUS_MFR_MODEL, block_buffer);
if (ret < 0) { ... }
for (mid = adm1275_id; mid->name[0]; mid++) {
if (!strncasecmp(mid->name, block_buffer, strlen(mid->name)))
break;
}
Since i2c_smbus_read_block_data() reads up to 32 bytes into the
uninitialized stack array block_buffer without appending a null
terminator, strncasecmp() could read past the valid bytes returned in ret.
For example, if the device returns a shorter string like "adm12", checking
it against "adm1275" up to the length of "adm1275" will continue reading
into uninitialized stack bounds.
Prevent reading uninitialized memory by zeroing the stack array. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/bnxt_re: Initialize dpi variable to zero
dpi is initialized only for BNXT_RE_ALLOC_WC_PAGE, but copied
for all the cases. So initialize the dpi to 0. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: ip_tunnel: make sure to pull inner header in ip_tunnel_rcv()
Apply the same fix than ones found in :
8d975c15c0cd ("ip6_tunnel: make sure to pull inner header in __ip6_tnl_rcv()")
1ca1ba465e55 ("geneve: make sure to pull inner header in geneve_rx()")
We have to save skb->network_header in a temporary variable
in order to be able to recompute the network_header pointer
after a pskb_inet_may_pull() call.
pskb_inet_may_pull() makes sure the needed headers are in skb->head.

| A use of uninitialized value vulnerability exists in the Matter SDK (connectedhomeip) before 1.4.0, where the `GetDestinationGroupId().Value()` method is called without first checking whether a value exists. This leads to a crash when an InvokeCommand is sent without initializing the destination group ID. The issue affects all versions before commit 0360cc3 (Dec 5, 2024) and leads to denial of service through SIGABRT. It is fixed by adding a .HasValue() check before access. |
| A vulnerability was determined in WonderTrader up to 0.9.9. This impacts an unknown function of the file src/Includes/WTSTradeDef.hpp of the component TraderATP Cash Trade Conversion. Executing a manipulation of the argument m_offsetType can lead to use of uninitialized variable. The attack can be executed remotely. The exploit has been publicly disclosed and may be utilized. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/hyperv: validate resolution_count and fix WIN8 fallback
A SYNTHVID_RESOLUTION_RESPONSE with resolution_count > 64 walks past
the supported_resolution[SYNTHVID_MAX_RESOLUTION_COUNT] array in the
parse loop. Bound resolution_count against the array size, folded
into the existing zero-check.
When the WIN10 resolution probe fails, the caller in
hyperv_connect_vsp() left hv->screen_*_max / preferred_* unpopulated,
which sets mode_config.max_width / max_height to 0 and makes
drm_internal_framebuffer_create() reject every userspace framebuffer
with -EINVAL. The pre-WIN10 branch had the same gap for
preferred_width / preferred_height. Use a single post-probe fallback
guarded by screen_width_max == 0 so both paths converge on the WIN8
defaults. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nfsd: ensure that nfsd4_fattr_args.context is zeroed out
If nfsd4_encode_fattr4 ends up doing a "goto out" before we get to
checking for the security label, then args.context will be set to
uninitialized junk on the stack, which we'll then try to free.
Initialize it early. |
