CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
media: i2c: tc358743: Fix use-after-free bugs caused by orphan timer in probe
The state->timer is a cyclic timer that schedules work_i2c_poll and
delayed_work_enable_hotplug, while rearming itself. Using timer_delete()
fails to guarantee the timer isn't still running when destroyed, similarly
cancel_delayed_work() cannot ensure delayed_work_enable_hotplug has
terminated if already executing. During probe failure after timer
initialization, these may continue running as orphans and reference the
already-freed tc358743_state object through tc358743_irq_poll_timer.
The following is the trace captured by KASAN.

Replace timer_delete() with timer_delete_sync() and cancel_delayed_work()
with cancel_delayed_work_sync() to ensure proper termination of timer and
work items before resource cleanup.
This bug was initially identified through static analysis. For reproduction
and testing, I created a functional emulation of the tc358743 device via a
kernel module and introduced faults through the debugfs interface. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amdkfd: Fix kfd process ref leaking when userptr unmapping
kfd_lookup_process_by_pid hold the kfd process reference to ensure it
doesn't get destroyed while sending the segfault event to user space.
Calling kfd_lookup_process_by_pid as function parameter leaks the kfd
process refcount and miss the NULL pointer check if app process is
already destroyed. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mptcp: Initialise rcv_mss before calling tcp_send_active_reset() in mptcp_do_fastclose().
syzbot reported divide-by-zero in __tcp_select_window() by
MPTCP socket. [0]
We had a similar issue for the bare TCP and fixed in commit
499350a5a6e7 ("tcp: initialize rcv_mss to TCP_MIN_MSS instead
of 0").
Let's apply the same fix to mptcp_do_fastclose().

pwm: berlin: Fix wrong register in suspend/resume
The 'enable' register should be BERLIN_PWM_EN rather than
BERLIN_PWM_ENABLE, otherwise, the driver accesses wrong address, there
will be cpu exception then kernel panic during suspend/resume. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
blk-mq: fix blk_mq_tags double free while nr_requests grown
In the case user trigger tags grow by queue sysfs attribute nr_requests,
hctx->sched_tags will be freed directly and replaced with a new
allocated tags, see blk_mq_tag_update_depth().
The problem is that hctx->sched_tags is from elevator->et->tags, while
et->tags is still the freed tags, hence later elevator exit will try to
free the tags again, causing kernel panic.
Fix this problem by replacing et->tags with new allocated tags as well.
Noted there are still some long term problems that will require some
refactor to be fixed thoroughly[1].

wifi: brcmfmac: cfg80211: Pass the PMK in binary instead of hex
Apparently the hex passphrase mechanism does not work on newer
chips/firmware (e.g. BCM4387). It seems there was a simple way of
passing it in binary all along, so use that and avoid the hexification.
OpenBSD has been doing it like this from the beginning, so this should
work on all chips.
Also clear the structure before setting the PMK. This was leaking
uninitialized stack contents to the device. |

ACPI: x86: s2idle: Catch multiple ACPI_TYPE_PACKAGE objects

leak. Explicitly guard against this. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
rcu: dump vmalloc memory info safely
Currently, for double invoke call_rcu(), will dump rcu_head objects memory
info, if the objects is not allocated from the slab allocator, the
vmalloc_dump_obj() will be invoke and the vmap_area_lock spinlock need to
be held, since the call_rcu() can be invoked in interrupt context,
therefore, there is a possibility of spinlock deadlock scenarios.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ALSA: pcm: Disable bottom softirqs as part of spin_lock_irq() on PREEMPT_RT
snd_pcm_group_lock_irq() acquires a spinlock_t and disables interrupts
via spin_lock_irq(). This also implicitly disables the handling of
softirqs such as TIMER_SOFTIRQ.
On PREEMPT_RT softirqs are preemptible and spin_lock_irq() does not
disable them. That means a timer can be invoked during spin_lock_irq()
on the same CPU. Due to synchronisations reasons local_bh_disable() has
a per-CPU lock named softirq_ctrl.lock which synchronizes individual
softirq against each other.
syz-bot managed to trigger a lockdep report where softirq_ctrl.lock is
acquired in hrtimer_cancel() in addition to hrtimer_run_softirq(). This
is a possible deadlock.
The softirq_ctrl.lock can not be made part of spin_lock_irq() as this
would lead to too much synchronisation against individual threads on the
system. To avoid the possible deadlock, softirqs must be manually
disabled before the lock is acquired.
Disable softirqs before the lock is acquired on PREEMPT_RT. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ipu3-imgu: Fix NULL pointer dereference in imgu_subdev_set_selection()
Calling v4l2_subdev_get_try_crop() and v4l2_subdev_get_try_compose()
with a subdev state of NULL leads to a NULL pointer dereference. This
can currently happen in imgu_subdev_set_selection() when the state
passed in is NULL, as this method first gets pointers to both the "try"
and "active" states and only then decides which to use.
The same issue has been addressed for imgu_subdev_get_selection() with
commit 30d03a0de650 ("ipu3-imgu: Fix NULL pointer dereference in active
selection access"). However the issue still persists in
imgu_subdev_set_selection().
Therefore, apply a similar fix as done in the aforementioned commit to
imgu_subdev_set_selection(). To keep things a bit cleaner, introduce
helper functions for "crop" and "compose" access and use them in both
imgu_subdev_set_selection() and imgu_subdev_get_selection(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: stream: purge sk_error_queue in sk_stream_kill_queues()
Changheon Lee reported TCP socket leaks, with a nice repro.
It seems we leak TCP sockets with the following sequence:
1) SOF_TIMESTAMPING_TX_ACK is enabled on the socket.
Each ACK will cook an skb put in error queue, from __skb_tstamp_tx().
__skb_tstamp_tx() is using skb_clone(), unless
SOF_TIMESTAMPING_OPT_TSONLY was also requested.
2) If the application is also using MSG_ZEROCOPY, then we put in the
error queue cloned skbs that had a struct ubuf_info attached to them.
Whenever an struct ubuf_info is allocated, sock_zerocopy_alloc()
does a sock_hold().
As long as the cloned skbs are still in sk_error_queue,
socket refcount is kept elevated.
3) Application closes the socket, while error queue is not empty.
Since tcp_close() no longer purges the socket error queue,
we might end up with a TCP socket with at least one skb in
error queue keeping the socket alive forever.
This bug can be (ab)used to consume all kernel memory
and freeze the host.
We need to purge the error queue, with proper synchronization
against concurrent writers. |

drm/amdgpu: Fix type of second parameter in odn_edit_dpm_table() callback
With clang's kernel control flow integrity (kCFI, CONFIG_CFI_CLANG),
indirect call targets are validated against the expected function
pointer prototype to make sure the call target is valid to help mitigate
ROP attacks. If they are not identical, there is a failure at run time,
which manifests as either a kernel panic or thread getting killed. A
proposed warning in clang aims to catch these at compile time, which
reveals:
drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../pm/swsmu/amdgpu_smu.c:3008:29: error: incompatible function pointer types initializing 'int (*)(void *, uint32_t, long *, uint32_t)' (aka 'int (*)(void *, unsigned int, long *, unsigned int)') with an expression of type 'int (void *, enum PP_OD_DPM_TABLE_COMMAND, long *, uint32_t)' (aka 'int (void *, enum PP_OD_DPM_TABLE_COMMAND, long *, unsigned int)') [-Werror,-Wincompatible-function-pointer-types-strict]

1 error generated.
There are only two implementations of ->odn_edit_dpm_table() in 'struct
amd_pm_funcs': smu_od_edit_dpm_table() and pp_odn_edit_dpm_table(). One
has a second parameter type of 'enum PP_OD_DPM_TABLE_COMMAND' and the
other uses 'u32'. Ultimately, smu_od_edit_dpm_table() calls
->od_edit_dpm_table() from 'struct pptable_funcs' and
pp_odn_edit_dpm_table() calls ->odn_edit_dpm_table() from 'struct
pp_hwmgr_func', which both have a second parameter type of 'enum
PP_OD_DPM_TABLE_COMMAND'.
Update the type parameter in both the prototype in 'struct amd_pm_funcs'
and pp_odn_edit_dpm_table() to 'enum PP_OD_DPM_TABLE_COMMAND', which
cleans up the warning. |

This seems similar to commit ea68376c8bed ("bpf: prevent decl_tag from being
referenced in func_proto") but for the argument. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bpf: Fix issue in verifying allow_ptr_leaks
After we converted the capabilities of our networking-bpf program from
cap_sys_admin to cap_net_admin+cap_bpf, our networking-bpf program
failed to start. Because it failed the bpf verifier, and the error log
is "R3 pointer comparison prohibited".
A simple reproducer as follows,
SEC("cls-ingress")
int ingress(struct __sk_buff *skb)
{
struct iphdr *iph = (void *)(long)skb->data + sizeof(struct ethhdr);
if ((long)(iph + 1) > (long)skb->data_end)
return TC_ACT_STOLEN;
return TC_ACT_OK;
}
Per discussion with Yonghong and Alexei [1], comparison of two packet
pointers is not a pointer leak. This patch fixes it.
Our local kernel is 6.1.y and we expect this fix to be backported to
6.1.y, so stable is CCed.

The problem was caused by the fact that the driver does not check
whether the endpoints it uses are actually present and have the
appropriate types. This can be fixed by adding a simple check of
the endpoints. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
Revert "drm/msm: Add missing check and destroy for alloc_ordered_workqueue"
This reverts commit 643b7d0869cc7f1f7a5ac7ca6bd25d88f54e31d0.
A recent patch that tried to fix up the msm_drm_init() paths with
respect to the workqueue but only ended up making things worse:
First, the newly added calls to msm_drm_uninit() on early errors would
trigger NULL-pointer dereferences, for example, as the kms pointer would
not have been initialised. (Note that these paths were also modified by
a second broken error handling patch which in effect cancelled out this
part when merged.)
Second, the newly added allocation sanity check would still leak the
previously allocated drm device.
Instead of trying to salvage what was badly broken (and clearly not
tested), let's revert the bad commit so that clean and backportable
fixes can be added in its place.

af_unix: Fix data races around sk->sk_shutdown.
KCSAN found a data race around sk->sk_shutdown where unix_release_sock()
and unix_shutdown() update it under unix_state_lock(), OTOH unix_poll()
and unix_dgram_poll() read it locklessly.
We need to annotate the writes and reads with WRITE_ONCE() and READ_ONCE().
